You can take a sudsy soak in beer at a spa in Denver

A day spa in Denver brings new meaning to the term “slinging suds.”

A Bear SpaA wellness retreat/taproom set to open in 2021, the signature service is a 90-minute “beer bath hydrotherapy” treatment that involves soaking in a cedar tub filled with a warm, bubbly brew of hops, barley and medicinal herbs.

According to the spa’s website, the treatment is supposed to promote relaxation and nourish your skin due to its properties of hops and barley, which contain antioxidants and vitamins B2 and B3.

Since the contents of the tub are not fermented and contain no yeast, the experience is really close to a beer bath. But the self-serve offerings from the lounge’s wall of taps are the real article. Spa packages come with drink credits on an RFID-equipped card that you can use to sample a regularly changing lineup of local craft brews as well as cider and kombucha.
